Butter and Milk cookies

This is the first time I try to make cookies. Chinese new year is coming and I am sure a lot of people are quite busy making cookies and cakes. I make this cookies just for fun. The cookies came out crispy but very sweet. Maybe next time, can reduce sugar to 1/2 cup.

Ingredients
    3 cups all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
     1/4 tsp of baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 cup white sugar
    1 cup butter
    1 egg
    3 tablespoons milk powder
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
   1. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the egg, cream and vanilla extract. Blend thoroughly (this usually works best with your hands).
2.Form dough into a flattened ball, wrap and refrigerate for at least 24 hours. This mixture can keep for several days.
    3.Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).
    4. Roll dough out on a floured board to about 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick. Cut out shapes with a cookie cutter and decorate with different types of sprinkles.
    5. Bake at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) for 5 to 8 minutes.

Butter Milk Buns- 奶油包

Butter Milk Buns are very popular in Malaysia and Brunei. When I tried to look for it in Perth, I could find any. I guessed this must be another Malaysian creation. This is my 2nd attempt with the fillings. The first filling recipes which I copied from a US website was totally useless and a failure. This time I used the recipe from a Brunei friend. It was a success. The Bun dough recipe was from Kuala Terengganu, a specialty over there. The Bun was very soft even after it cooled down. The butter milk was very nice as well. Two of the fillings in my buns burst during baking but that was because I did not cover up the dough well and it leaked out. Rest of the Buns were perfect. *makes 11pcs of medium size Buns Gelatinised dough 50g bread flour 35ml hot boiling water 1.
